The XBB OBD Dongle, PowerUnit, and Smart Button package provides a wireless and efficient solution for controlling auxiliary lighting in modern vehicles. Many newer cars with LED or Xenon headlamps use CAN bus technology, which prevents traditional relay wiring harnesses from being connected directly to the power cord of the bulb. The XBB system addresses this issue by intercepting the high beam signal from the vehicle’s OBD-II port and wirelessly transmitting it to the XBB PowerUnit relay, which then activates the auxiliary lights. This eliminates the need for additional wiring between the engine bay and the car interior, making installation much simpler.
The XBB PowerUnit relay connects to the vehicle’s standard relay harness and can control two current outputs, allowing both auxiliary and parking lights to be operated at the same time. For easy configuration, the XBB mobile app, available on Google Play and the App Store, lets users select their vehicle make and model, sending the correct settings to the XBB Dongle for seamless integration.
This package also includes the XBB Smart Button, a wireless remote control that enables on-demand activation of auxiliary lighting. The Bluetooth-enabled switch can be placed anywhere in the vehicle or carried in a pocket for convenient remote operation, even from outside the vehicle when the ignition is on. The Smart Button allows users to manually turn the auxiliary lights on or off, regardless of whether the vehicle’s high beams are engaged. Its settings can be adjusted through the XBB Configurator mobile app, providing full control over the lighting system.
Note: The XBB Smart Button is only compatible with the XBB Dongle & PowerUnit relay and cannot be used with other devices.
Smart Button Guide:
To set up the XBB Smart Button, start by downloading and opening the XBB Configurator mobile app. Connect your phone to the XBB Dongle, then navigate to the PowerUnit settings within the app. Tap the + button and select "Add new XBB button." The dongle will then begin searching for new devices. Press the XBB Smart Button to make it discoverable, and once it appears in the app’s search results, select it. You can then customise its functionality through the app according to your preferences.
